PSYC 3335: Social Psychology

University of Central Arkansas

Social psychology investigates the ways other people affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This course is designed to provide an overview of major theoretical perspectives and contemporary research in the field. Social psychology encompasses a broad range of topics involving theory and research on how people perceive, influence, and relate to others. Some of these topics will include: prejudice & discrimination, obedience & conformity, prosocial behavior, attitudes, identity, social comparison, culture, & relationships, among other topics. Since psychology is a science, we will also examine classic and contemporary research in the area of social psychology. Finally, the course should promote an educated self-reflection concerning one’s own relationships with others in society.
